Our Story

Jo established her business after her own journey through pregnancy and postnatal recovery left her with pelvic floor symptoms took her by surprise and feeling unsure how to navigate a functional life with confidence.

While recovering after having her second baby she discovered how to really reconnect and heal her body to function well during and after pregnancy that she wished she had known earlier!

With a background as a Nurse and great passion, Jo embarked on a journey to build a greater awareness and support system for Mums during this season of their lives for safe and effective exercise to promote confidence and improve the chances of Mums returning to full function after birth. No more accepting pelvic floor problems; wetting your pants, prolapse symptoms, diastasis recti and other postnatal symptoms as the normal for us to battle with for the rest of our lives! So, she undertook further study to become a personal trainer and pregnancy and postnatal exercise specialist so she could bring this information to more ladies.

Together with her husband Regan they both run a successful small private personal training studio which was originally established by Regan in 2016. They juggle their family and lifestyle while helping others succeed in their health and fitness goals.

They have three young daughters whom you might see (or hear) now and again if you are training at their studio. The family have a passion for health and fitness, wanting to live the best life they can, be role models for their kids growing up, and help others live a fit, strong, long, functional and healthy future too.

My name is Jo Hartley

I am an experienced and qualified Personal Trainer who has a special interest in ladies health and fitness, in particular pregnancy and postnatal exercise to optimise and ENERGISE Mums lives. This passion expands to women in general, incorporating hormonal considerations, flexibility, strength, pelvic floor, balance and other variables that may affect their well-being.

I am also a Registered Nurse so combining health and fitness seems like a logical choice to help others live a healthy, energised, long, strong and functional life.

I have always had an active lifestyle, enjoying walking and team sports but my real coaching journey all started during my daily walks, pushing her second born in the pram on beautiful autumn days. I had been researching safe return to exercise after birth after my own struggles with recovery and suddenly it clicked...there was a big gap in the health and fitness industry on safe pre and postnatal exercise, I had to really dig to find it for myself and discovered information that I wish I had known during my own pregnancy and postnatal recovery!

So I retrained as a Personal Trainer specialising in pregnancy and postnatal exercise to help narrow this gap.

I am now on a mission to educate, help and support ladies with

  • health, wellness and safe exercise

  • pelvic floor health, function and inclusion in exercise

  • pregnancy exercise and birth preparation

  • postnatal recovery and beyond

  • thriving during menopause

  • and more...

to help you all live a stronger, fitter, functional and energised life.
